Bass Pro Drops Independent Retail Shops

Bass Pro Shops announced recently the dropping of independent retail shops.
Lakeside Pro Bass Shop of Indian Lake Ohio is sad to announce that as of August 2, 2017 Bass Pro Shops of Springfield Illinois will no longer wholesale to independent retail shops, which includes Lakeside Pro Bass Shop. This will affect over two thousand privately owned retail shops throughout the United States.

Lakeside Pro Bass Shop has had a very good, long and close relationship with Bass Pro Shops, starting in 1980s as a franchise of Bass Pro Shops. In the 1990s Bass Pro Shops bought back franchise businesses and transitioned into a wholesaler; setting up the “brick and mortar” independent retail shops.
Bass Pro Shops continues to be a major sponsor of the fishing industry. At Indian Lake, Bass Pro Shops, in conjunction with Lakeside Pro Bass Shop, helped sponsor the Muscular Dystrophy tournaments throughout the 1990s and most recently the annual Indian Lake Moose Lodge fishing tournament.
David Harshbarger, current owner of Lakeside Pro Bass Shop, stated “the dropping of independent retail shops by Bass Pro Shops is likely influenced by an overreach of the attempt to buy Cabela’s, a major drop in gun and ammunition sales, and continued transition of retail sales from small businesses to internet retail.”

Lakeside Pro Bass Shop is a family owned fishing tackle store started in 1948 and located one mile north of Lakeview Ohio on SR 235 North & Duff Road. It is one of the largest fishing tackle retail stores in Ohio with over 8,000 unique fishing tackle items.
